TERMIDOR

Bullet 1 - Click image to download.Termidor, containing the chemical Fipronil is a new termiticide available in Australia. Already proving to be extremely effective in other parts of the world, termidor is set to change the way termites are treated in Australia. In the USA termidor has been used to treat more than 600,000 homes, and after 8 years of testing has returned 100% effective control of termites.

Bullet 1 - Click image to download.Unlike traditional Termiticides termidor has a transfer effect on termites. Whilst most other termiticides act as repellents rather than killing them, termites can often find gaps in a soil barrier and thus re-enter the home. As termites cannot detect Termidor in the soil they will tunnel into the treated area, Termidor is deadly to termites when they either ingest it or make contact with it.

Bullet 1 - Click image to download.Termidor (fipronil) adheres to the termite exoskeleton and is absorbed into the termites body where it kills it within a few days. Because termites groom each other they pass the chemical from one termite to another spreading it across the entire colony Termites eat or remove other dead termites thus spreading the deadly effect of fipronil further. Tests have shown that termidor should remain effective for over 5 years, in most conditions, giving long term protection. Termidor is classified as a Schedule 5 "CAUTION' product, this means it is of low hazard to people and to pets ... In fact "fipronil" is used extensively for flea control on cats and dogs in products such as FRONTLINE. Whilst more expensive than other Termiticides often used, Termidor has a range of benefits that outweigh the additional cost.

Bullet 1 - Click image to download. When TERMIDOR is applied to soil around a home it creates a treated zone that works in 2 ways.
Bullet 1 - Click image to download.1 CONTACT - close to the point of application (where the concentration is highest) where termites enter the treated zone they will die quickly an no further tunnelling in the soil takes place.
Bullet 1 - Click image to download.2 INGESTION - further out from the point of application, because the concentration of Termidor is lower the lethal effects of Termidor are delayed. This allows termites to transfer Termidor back to the colony thus resulting in the death of large numbers of termites very effetely..
Bullet 1 - Click image to download.Termidor works quickly, within 3 months- unlike other baiting systems that can take upto 12 mths to control a colony.

Termite PicturesThe "Transfer Effect" controls the whole colony in a matter of weeks

Termites feed each other primarily by passing food from mouth to mouth. They groom each other. They contact each other as they forage for food. Termidor takes advantage of these social behaviors.

As well as eating Termidor, a termite will also unknowingly pick it up and carry it back to the colony on its body. So every termite it contacts, feeds, or grooms will itself become a carrier, contacting and "infecting" others.

But because the active ingredient in Termidor is slow acting, and allows the termite to continue its normal routine, it remains active long enough to transfer the Termidor to a large number of other termites in the colony before dying itself.

This combination of ingestion, contact, and the "Transfer Effect" results in unparalleled efficacy. Eight-plus years of test data show Termidor provides 100% control. And Termidor delivers results in a matter of weeks. That's 2 to 6 times faster than a bait/monitoring system.

Termidor Dust
Bullet 1 - Click image to download.Dust’ is a non-replellent, ingestible product containing food grade alpha cellulose, the same material used as the food source in most termite bait systems.
Bullet 1 - Click image to download.termidor_dust_pic.jpgHowever, what makes ‘Dust’ different to other bait systems is its incubation period which allows just enough time for lethal powder to be transferred from one termite to another. The manufacturer claims this Transfer Effect™ gives ‘Dust’ an edge over all other termitcides.  The termites will go about their normal activities long enough to pass the Termidor Dust to numerous other termites until its spread throughout the colony. All it takes is physical contact between termites for ‘Dust’ to be transferred and spread through the colony.

Bullet 1 - Click image to download. As termites are social insects, feeding and grooming each other in large close-knit colonies becomes the ideal scenario for the Transfer Effect™. ‘Dust’ can also be eaten by the termites like bait and the deadly effects will take hold just the same. By the time the termites begin feeling the effects either via direct and indirect contact or ingestion, it would be too late for the colony. Research has found that using Termidor Dust takes approximately 2 to 4 weeks for total colony elimination, much faster than baiting systems and requiring less visits to achieve success.

Bullet 1 - Click image to download.Another unique difference between Termidor Dust and other dust and baiting products is its Fluorescent Termite Tracking™ technology. Termites dusted with Termidor Dust will glow a bright yellow when exposed to UV light such as a simple black light torch. This allows pest control operators the ability to track termites that have been dusted and helps in determining if termites found in close proximity to the treated structure are from the same colony as those previously dusted.

Bullet 1 - Click image to download. Premise is a new post construction termiticide
Unlike other termiticides Premise spreads well in the soil, has no odour, has a dual action to kill termites in the treated zone, lasting for a minimum period of 2-3 years.

Bullet 1 - Click image to download. How does Premise work?
Premise works differently to other termiticides on the market.
Premise lets termites come into a “ treated zone” and kills them.
Premise acts in a different way to other termiticides a chemical barrier is not formed.
A barrier is something which can be detected, Instead Premise creates a treated zone.
The termites can tunnel into the Treated Zone for a few cm but then are affected by Premise.
They stop tunnelling and become disoriented . They do not return to the nest but remain in the Treated Zone. Most of them die from effects of Premise Or are killed by nature.
Low doses of Premise, such as at the edge of a Treated Zone, disorientate the termites and cause them to cease their natural grooming. Grooming is important for termites to protect them against pathogenic soil fungi.
When termites stop grooming, the naturally occurring fungi in the soil attack and kill the termites. Bullet 1 - Click image to download.Premise makes these fungi 10,000 times more dangerous to termites.
Bullet 1 - Click image to download.Premise is a schedule 5 (caution ) product.

If you find Termite activity! Do not disturb them just it call us!

You should have regular inspections of all timber and possible termite entry points. We can identify timber problems and advise you of the solutions. If you find termite damage in your home, call us and do not disturb the termites. We will investigate the size and nature of the infestation and advise you on the available options.
